Delacroix is a fishing paradise!

South East Louisiana is some of the best inshore fishing in the world!  Come enjoy a plethora of species and generous creel limits all while taking in the beauty of the Delacroix marsh!

Redfish

Redfish also known as red drum are our bread and butter!  Delacroix is a world-class fishery offering the opportunity for year-round redfish fishing!  These beautiful fish boast drag peeling fights as well as wonderful table fare.  These are the fish that bring people back time and time again! 

Limit: 4 per person

Size limit: Slot 18”-27” 

Fight: Hard

Speckled Trout

Speckled Trout, also known as Spotted Sea Trout, are a local favorite.  These fish are not the strongest fighters, however their ability to throw a hook and jump out of the water offers a fun challenge!  What they lack in strength, compared to redfish, they usually make up for in numbers allowing for fast-pace action!  They boast a delicious flaky white meat!

Limit: 15 per person

Size: Slot 13"-20" with one over slot allowed

Fight: Moderate

Black Drum

Black drum is the cousin to the famous redfish!  These fish will definitely put fishing gear to the test!  They too offer rod bending action and make for a tasty meal!

Limit: 5 per person
Size:
Slot 16”-27” with one above the slot allowed

Fight: Hard

Sheepshead

Sheepshead, also jokingly called Bay Snapper or Convicts, usually draw lots of attention once caught.  From their strong fight to their almost human-like teeth these fish are sure to make you smile!  Their meat may be protected by tough bones but don’t let that fool you into thinking are are bad table fare; these are one of the best tasting fish in the marsh!

Southern Flounder

Southern flounder also referred to as doormats are one of the most interesting fish we have in Delacroix.  An adult flounder‘s eyes are on the same side of their body which allows them to lay flat on the bottom and wait to ambush their prey.  This fish are excellent table fare and are always fun to catch!

Limit: 10 per person

Fight: Hard

Large Mouth Bass

Yes you read that correctly, Large Mouth Bass are commonly found in the brackish waters of Delacroix!  These fish, fondly known as Green Trout, offer a great fight and bring you back to the days of pond fishing as a child!  Whats unique about this strain of marsh bass however is their taste.  Due to their diet and environment these fish are definitely a top contender for tasty fish in the marsh!

Fight: Moderate
